Protect yourselves, friends
Hi everyone! SubmissiveDreamer here.
Throughout the time that we’ve run this blog, we’ve received a multitude of messages in which people tell us about how they’re being blackmailed. It breaks my heart every single time, because it’s such a difficult situation and there’s often little that can be done.
When you’re dealing with people online, it is essential that you take the steps to protect yourself. Recently, we’ve received a few messages in which people say, “I was really creeped out by this dude, but he asked me for pictures of me so I sent them anyway.”
I have to be blunt with this, so I’m sorry if that feels harsh, but this is important, and I need y’all to get it. Don’t do this. If you’re feeling creeped out, the person likely is a creep. Don’t feed into what they want and give them your pictures.
If your warning bells are going off? If you’re seeing red flags? Don’t give your personal information to people! Your social media profiles, your picture, your full name - this is your identity. And you don’t owe it to ANYONE online.
If someone is creeping you out, you owe them nothing! Don’t give them the information that they can then use to blackmail you or harass you.
Note: I understand that people are deceptive. I’ve been tricked by guys online before, too. I understand that sometimes, people seem wonderful and the warning signs don’t show until it’s too late. In those cases, I am genuinely sorry for people tricking you in that way. And I will do everything I can to help you. But if you are noticing warning signs beforehand, please, please, please: take them seriously.
If you think someone’s gonna stop talking to you if you don’t send them that nude, then are they really worth your time?
There are people I’ve talked to for years through my blogs who still only know me as SD. They don’t need to know more, so they don’t.
Please, please. Keep yourselves safe. Listen to the warning signs. Remember common sense. Ask your friends if something feels fishy. (But if it feels fishy and you have to ask… it’s probably fishy. Don’t do it.)
Stay safe, lovelies.
